Life Coaching Tip: When you are overwhelmed with worry and fear, you can feel defeated and small, too scared and helpless to pursue your dreams. But when you turn your worries into commitments, you step back into your badassery and remember that you are in full control of your future. Never let fear or worry determine your fate, my friend!

Today, I want to share a mindset strategy with you, that I am certain you will be able to apply at some point when your primal brain tries to trick you into staying in your comfort zone.
This situation came up for a client recently, but I know it’s not unique to her because it’s such a common ploy of the primal brain . . .
My client is in the process of expanding her business, and she came to her coaching session feeling like a hot mess. She was fretting and worried about how growth and success might impact her personal time, life balance, and the quality of her services.
She was clearly feeling defeated and ready to put a kibosh on her dreams.
As you might imagine, this is the point where many people sabotage their own success and shrink—ironically in response to problems that haven’t even manifested yet!
But my BS detector had already gone off. I was able to help her see her own mind and step back into a position of power.
This was her assignment:
List any nagging worries/fears that you feel about your upcoming business growth and turn them into commitments.
FOR INSTANCE:
WORRY – Not having enough personal time once business expands
COMMITMENT – I will intentionally schedule time for the people and activities that are important to me in my calendar and protect it without exception. I will expand my staff and delegate more. I will assess this monthly and adjust accordingly.
WORRY – The quality of service will diminish as my business grows
COMMITMENT – I will continue to make customer service a top priority and not loosely delegate this part of my business. I will put elements in place that preserve my personal touch and the special feeling my customers get when working with me directly.
My friend, this strategy will work for you, too, no matter the circumstance, fear, or worry that your primal brain might be conjuring up to hold you back.
Here are other scenarios that my clients have presented to me over the years:
- “I’m worried if I start that project, I will get bored and move onto something else without finishing.”
- “I’m worried that if I accept the promotion, I won’t have a good work-home life balance.”
- “I’m worried if I launch my business, I’ll give up as soon as it gets hard.”
- “I’m worried that if I go out and socialize, I will eat/drink too much and blow my health goals.”
- “I’m worried that if I invest in that course/program, I will get distracted and not do the work (or get the results).”
- “I’m worried that if I start dating again, I’ll setting for someone who doesn’t meet my standards.”
Can you relate to any of these?
Is your BS detector going off?
Can you see how autonomy and personal power/responsibility are missing from the premises of these worries/fears?
Now it’s your turn . . .
List any nagging worries/fears that you feel about any upcoming growth opportunities and turn them into commitments.
You can trust yourself, mama!
You have just this one and only precious life.
Go do the thing!
