Are you still wondering if coaching is right for you? Here are some answers to common questions about life coaching…
Why do women need life coaches?
While everyone can benefit from hiring life coaches, we often find ourselves living up to other people’s expectations. Erin Falconer wrote a whole book on the subject:
“… In life, we’re judged according to what we’ve done. And women are consistently assessed more harshly. A New York University study showed that women have to do much more than men to be perceived as equally productive in the workplace. So we keep chugging along. . . . But herein lies the conundrum, if we continue to pursue productivity for productivity’s sake, women will continue to position ourselves diametrically opposed to satisfaction. You may feel like the most productive person alive, but without a purpose, you’re just busy.”
― Erin Falconer, How to Get Sh*t Done: Why Women Need to Stop Doing Everything So They Can Achieve Anything
So often, my clients are successful women living inauthentic lives based on standards set by other people, society, their familial expectations, etc. They’ve raised families ahead of their own goals and continue to put their dreams on the back burner until everyone else has their time in the sun. One of the biggest mistakes we can make as a society is to let our fellow sisters shrink while holding up others – everyone has their gifts to share, and I’ve made it my passion to help other women share their light with the world.
Is hiring a life coach worth it?
I believe in the benefits of life coaching so much that I continue working with my own coach today! But, just don’t take it from me. I encourage you to check out the client feedback on my “real results” page to learn about what my clients say about coaching with me.
One of my clients, Ann, said that coaching was the best investment she ever made in herself, and I know you will feel the same way, too!
Whether you’re looking to make a career change, start a new business, create more life balance, or something else to live a more purposeful life, life coaching offers support and empowerment to transform your life and step into the new you!
What does a life coach do?
I am life coach for women who want to find their purpose, whatever that means for you!
When you work with me, we start by identifying what you want out of life. Figuring out what you actually want can take some work because a lot of times, our inner voice is buried under many years of other people’s expectations and opinions.
Once we hone in on our true passions, we can set up some goals to ensure we include the things that light us up as often as possible in our daily lives. We’ll work on growth opportunities and self-discovery. Everything I do is customized to fit your personality and vision! I also keep your goals safe from external feedback and hold you accountable for the goals we set.
I’ve had clients say thanks to the processes we put in place, they were then able to achieve their five-year goals in three.
What does life coaching consist of?
When working together, we first do an initial consultation to talk, ask questions and give you a feel for my coaching style. If we decide we’re good fits for each other, we get to work right away with a two-hour Discovery Session.
During the Discovery Session, we create a precise vision for your experience. We clarify what you want for your life and map out our work together. We also identify your values, explore your strengths and abilities, and consider the limiting beliefs and obstacles that are in your way.
After the Discovery Session, then it’s full speed ahead! We continue our work via weekly private coaching sessions to ensure we’re staying on top of your goals and checking in on progress. All sessions are remote using the Zoom app, so our time is flexible and convenient!
How is a life coach different from a therapist?
Generally speaking, a therapist’s role is to help you heal from the past, while a life coach’s focus is more about guiding you to create “future you.” That being said, our work together will include helping you to understand how your past has contributed to your present situation, and re-framing limiting beliefs that are no longer working for you.
While life coaching is supportive, it is not therapy or any other type of mental health care. It is distinct from therapy or counseling because it is not designed to address psychological issues.
Coaching is not intended to be a replacement for counseling, psychiatric interventions, or treatment for mental illness or substance abuse.
How do I choose the right life coach?
I offer a free, no-obligation consultation before we begin to get to know each other and see if we would be a good fit. This consultation gives you a chance to ask questions and know what I’m about and if my coaching style might be right for you. Taking the first steps towards changing your life can be scary, but I have your back! By scheduling this consultation, you are taking big, bold action towards helping future you and finding the life you are meant to live.
Ready for the next steps? I am looking forward to hearing from you and discussing your future, awesome, and authentic life! You are too important to keep holding yourself back. The world is waiting for you to show up and shine and I am excited to share this journey with you.
