Life Coaching Tip: Instead of asking yourself, “What if I fail?”, consider asking yourself instead, “What if I’m wildly successful?” It’s amazing how just one reframe can inspire you into action. That’s what mindset work is all about. Creating the inspirational thoughts that get you moving forward towards your goals and manifesting your dreams!

“What if it doesn’t work out?”
This was the question my client asked me as she discussed an exciting new business idea she’d been mulling over for months.
I gently responded, “And what if it’s wildly successful?”
In her book, “She Means Business,” author Carrie Green reveals one of the biggest obstacles standing between many people and their dreams: the combination of the words “what” and “if.”
Green points out that self-doubt creeps in the moment we ask questions like, “What if I fail?” or “What if no one likes it?” These thoughts can trigger overthinking, paralyzing us with fear, and causing us to procrastinate—for months, years, or even a lifetime!
I had a similar conversation with another client recently. She had a clear plan in place to reach her goal but wasn’t feeling motivated to take action. As we dug deeper, it became clear: the question on her mind was, “What if it’s not possible?”
With further exploration, the truth hit her: Her goal was 100% possible! In fact, many people are already doing what she was dreaming of!
It’s fascinating (and frustrating) how our brains can create unlikely scenarios to hold us back from the very thing we want. We end up stuck in our comfort zone, spinning in place and convincing ourselves that change is just too risky.
So, let me ask you:
Is there an idea you’ve been sitting on, waiting for the “perfect” moment to act?
Or maybe there’s a dream you’ve held close to your heart for a long time, but the “what ifs” are keeping you feeling trapped and uncertain?
If this resonates, I want to offer you a few powerful questions that can help you shift from stuck to inspired:
What if it was easy?
What if this is the perfect time to act?
What if everything falls into place perfectly?
What if it turns out even better than you can imagine?
And… what if you’re wildly successful?
It’s incredible how just one small shift in perspective can quiet your fears and spark the motivation you need to take action. Mindset work is all about crafting thoughts that fire you up and keep you focused on crushing your goals and dreams.
Asking yourself the right questions will help you ignite your passion, push your limits, and audaciously grow beyond what you ever thought possible!
And here’s one last question to challenge your mindset:
What if there’s nothing serious going on here?
I love this playful question because it lightens the load. In the grand scheme of things, what’s the worst that can happen? Is it really as serious as your mind is making it out to be?
What if you just decided to see what you could get away with?
There’s no need to make it so solemn. Take that first step. Trust yourself.
Do the flippin’ thing already!
I’m rooting for you, sister!
